Robotic instruments articulate in a 360-degree arc just a few centimeters from their tips, mimicking delicate fingers. A robot medicine holds the laparoscopic camera steady and doesn?t drift or tire (as a surgical assistant does). It is ergonomically superior for both the surgeon and the assistant, because the surgeon can sit down at a console comfortably and the assistants usually stand or sit near the patient, changing out instruments as needed.
